DAY 1

Day 1 - Flying and Chicago
The day started early and we got to the airport and checked in fine, had breakfast then hopped on the plane.
Continental has improved a lot since the last time we flew with them, plenty of leg room and the back of the seat tv had games on it and you could choose to watch what you wanted when you wanted, I watched Paul Blart Mall Cop while K played poker, she managed to turn $200 into $70000, if only it were real! We also played 2 player games from the comfort of our own screen, fancy.

The 2nd flight was pretty uneventful.
We arrived in Chicago and caught the blue line to downtown, or so we thought. Half way there we had to change to a bus cos there were problems with the line, we ended up in the middle of the Loop (downtown area) not entirely sure where we were. We then gave up on public transport and schlepped to the hotel via the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue), it pretty much lived up to its name, the architecture was amazing and we pretended we were on ER whilst on the bridge on the river. Town was hoaching and very hot so dragging our luggage about was not easy.

Eventually we got to the hotel and the room is pretty fancy, it has a kitchen and a sofa.

We lounged about for a bit and then popped next door to the John Hancock Tower to go for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, we put our names down for a table and then as there was a 45min wait we went upstairs to the viewpoint. It was amazing, you could see all the way across Lake Michigan to Michigan itself. It was great to get a bit of perspective on the city, see what was where etc. I took about a million photos.

Then we went downstairs for dinner, we both went for the pulled pork on a brioche bun with chips and coleslaw, and we both only manged to eat half of it. Luckily, as we are in America they boxed up our leftovers and we brought them, and a sneaky slice of dulce de leche cheesecake (which we've just eaten lying about the room) back to the hotel.

So sleepy now, so going to sleep!
