Day 2 - More Chicago

The day started at 7am when we both woke up due to the jet lag situation.

We then had breakfast in bed - leftover pulled pork sandwiches!

The day then went down hill, I somehow managed to pull a muscle in my neck and found that all I could do was lie on the bed in agony. K, being the wonderfully kind person that she is, scooted round to Walgreens and bought me some pain killing gel. That helped a bit so off we went to find the hop on, hop off tour.

We got on the bus at the Water Tower and scored some super sweet top floor seats (did i mention that it was roasting today?) and I proceeded to take pictures of everything that we passed. The first time that we decided to hop off was at Millenium Park, it was awesome. The bean was ace, although i did manage to bang my head on it! Then we went down to the fountain (the picture of the face above) where the faces are videos, k had a wee paddle with the kids. We had a big walk around the park enjoying the views and taking more photos and then we headed into 'the loop' for some shopping and lunch.

We had lunch in Argo Tea, like Starbucks but everything is tea based, more tea than you can shake a stick at - including teapuccino! We both had a slice of quiche - k roast veg and me goats cheese and tomato and i had an iced chai latte and k had an iced mate latte (almondy boak). We pretty much fell in love with the place and will probably go to another branch tomor.

K then went to old navy - alone! i sat in the cafe in borders reading time out chicago so that i could avoid the ordeal. She was happy though, she got some jeans, a top and some flip flops cos her toots were sore.
We then went back Millenium Park and picked up the tour bus again, this time it was an old fashioned trolley instead of a double decker. We stayed on til Navy Pier where we hopped off again. The pier was great, amazing views of the Chicago skyline and the lake. We popped into some shops and indulged in some Chicago Mix popcorn, a mix of cheese flavoured bits with caramel bits, it sounds disgusting but is actually rather tasty.

After that we walked along the lake back to the hotel, we were by this point both exhausted and feeling the pain in the feet.

Somehow it has reached 7pm by this time so we quickly read reviews of a few of the classic deep dish pizza joints to decide where to sample the classic Chicago dish. We decided on a place called Pizano's, just down the street from the hotel (due to the sore feet this was a deciding factor). We arrived and had to wait 10mins for a table, not too bad compared to last night. We ordered Mozzarella Sticks to start and a 10inch pepperoni deep dish to share, we were dubius about half a 10inch being enough. The mozzarella sticks arrived quickly and they were very good, however it takes about 40mins to make a deep dish pizza so we had to wait a while for it. It was weird the pizza went base, then cheese, then pepperoni and then tomato sauce on top and the base was more like pastry than pizza dough. I liked it but I dont think that I would get it again in a hurry, and as for it not being big enough, we couldnt even finish the 10inch!

We finished dinner at about 9 but we were to tired to do anything else so we are back at the hotel (we did bring back some snacks).
